Joseph Merrick - Teschio e fotografie...

ref. n°4- scaffale n°9- settore B

As reported in a wild page of the diary, one kept in the crate on the shelf number 9 is the skull of Joseph Merrick, also known as the Elephant Man (which was made the famous film)
From what we can know, the remains were to be held at the London Royal Hospital for scientific purposes. But reading between the lines, it seems that the father of Professor De Benedettis managed to get hold of the real skull, mistaking what is now in the hospital with a copy.

In addition to some vintage photos and the skull itself, the collection is also the cap with which Joseph hid his deformity. To know the full story of Joseph Merrick and Proteus syndrome can click HERE.
